LAKE WALES, FL-The USCB men’s and women’s golf teams ended the first day of competition in first place at the Webber International Start 2 Finish Sports and More Classic being held Sunday and Monday at the Lake Wales (FL) Country Club. The NAIA nationally ranked third place Sand Shark men have built a nine shot lead after the opening 36 holes on Sunday with team rounds of 294 and 297 for a total of 591. Southeastern sits in second place at 600 with SCAD a stroke behind in third.

Meyer Wins Hilton Head Half Marathon

HILTON HEAD, SC- Sophomore Marshall Meyer improved his NAIA National qualifying time for the Half Marathon by running away from a field of over 400 racers on Saturday at the Hilton Head Half Marathon. Meyer’s winning time of 1:14:21 was a 34 second improvement over his time of 1:14:55 run in December at the Jacksonville, (FL) Half Marathon.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL-Five Sand Shark baseball players will get a jump start on the 2010 season by playing in the Sun Conference All Star Game to be played Sunday at Silwa Stadium on the campus of Embry Riddle in Daytona Beach.  Game time is 12:00 noon.

JACKSONVILLE, FL-For the second year in a row, USCB sophomore, Marshall Meyer has qualified for the NAIA National Marathon. Running in crisp early morning temperatures in Jacksonville, FL today, Meyer finished fifth overall in a field of over 1000 runners at the Jacksonville Bank Half Marathon. Meyer ran more than a minute faster than his qualifying time from a year ago as he completed the 13.1 mile half marathon course in 1:14:52. His time will enable Meyer to return to run in the national marathon event in a race where he finished 18th a year in St. Louis. The national NAIA marathon will be part of the NAIA National Track and Field Championships to be held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana from May 25th to the 27th .
