JON PANNONE LED THE SAND SHARKS ON DAY TWO AT KIAWAH WITH AN EVEN PAR 72

KIAWAH ISLAND, SC-The USCB men’s golf team finished second in their first tournament of the fall season as Barton College defeated the Sand Sharks by two strokes. USCB had a second round total of 291 to go with their opening 293 giving the Sand Sharks a 36 hole total of 584. First round leader Georgia College and State University came home in third position just one shot behind USCB. There were 21 teams entered. The tournament was held at 6873 yard par 72 Cougar Point Course on Kiawah Island.

GEORGE THACKER FIRED A TWO UNDER 70 IN FIRST ROUND AT KIAWAH

KIAWAH ISLAND, SC-The USCB men’s golf team fired an opening round five over par 293 Monday and are the early leaders at the Kiawah Island Invitational hosted by USC Aiken. The tournament is being played on the 6853 yard par 72 Cougar Point Course on Kiawah Island. Georgia College and State University, the NCAA II sixth ranked team is the leading team after posting a 292 score, one stroke better than the Sand Sharks and Barton College.  There are 21 teams entered in the tournament.

BLUFFTON, SC-It has only been a couple of months since the USCB men’s golf team completed their third season of competition with a fourth place finish at the NAIA National Championship at the TPC Deere Run in Silva,IL. With all five golfers back from that team, the Sand Sharks will kick off their four meet fall competitions on Monday at the 36 hole USC Aiken Intercollegiate Tournament at Kiawah Island.

OKATIE, SC-USCB junior Chris Lane finished his summer golf tournament schedule with a win at the Hilton Head Amateur played this past Saturday and Sunday at the par 72 Callawassie Island Club in Okatie. Lane shot a one under par 143 (72, 71) for the 36 whole tournament to win by three shots over Jeff Wong.

BLUFFTON-USCB Director of Golf Shane LeBaron has been named the Eaton/Golf Pride NAIA South Region Men’s Coach of the Year by the Golf Coaches Association of America. LeBaron was one of four coaches throughout the United States to receive an all region honor. The National Coach of the Year went to Kyle Blaser, the head coach of the NAIA national champion team from Oklahoma City.

BLUFFTON, SC-USCB Athletic Director Ty Rietkovich announced today that Shane LeBaron will move from Head Men’s Coach to Director of Golf. Also, current Women’s Coach, Chris Cuneo will become the Men’s Head Coach. A search will begin immediately for a new women’s coach.

BLUFFTON, SC-Members of the USCB golf team have been traveling throughout the United States this summer playing well in some of the top and more prestigious amateur tournaments. After concluding the 2010 spring season with a fourth place finish at the NAIA National Championship Tournament, Coach Shane LeBaron ‘s team has continued their fine play.

Fresh off their fourth place NAIA National Championship, two team members, Chris Lane and Jon Pannone are playing in two of the country’s top amateur tournaments this week-end.

BLUFFTON, SC-While the 2009-10 school year brought many successes for USCB athletics on the baseball diamond, golf courses and running venues, Sand Shark athletes also had tremendous success in the classroom as evidenced by a number of awards recently presented to USCB student athletes for academic achievement.

SILVIS, IL-The USCB men’s golf team improved by three places from their seventh place finish in 2009 as the Sand Sharks completed their season with a fourth place finish at the 2010 NAIA National Championships held at the TPC Deere Run Course in Silvis, IL. The Sand Sharks entered the final 18 homes two shots behind co leaders Oklahoma City and Malone and tied with Oklahoma Christian.
