EMILY KUHFELD NEW WOMEN'S GOLF COACH AT USCB

Bluffton, SC- Emily Kuhfeld has been named the new women’s golf coach at the USCB. In making the announcement on Monday, Athletic Director Ty Rietkovich said, “Emily will be an outstanding addition to our department and will be instrumental in the future success of our women’s golf team.” Kuhfeld replaces Chris Cuneo who was recently named the men’s coach after Shane LeBaron was named USCB’s Director of Golf.

BLUFFTON, SC-USCB Athletic Director Ty Rietkovich announced today that Shane LeBaron will move from Head Men’s Coach to Director of Golf. Also, current Women’s Coach, Chris Cuneo will become the Men’s Head Coach. A search will begin immediately for a new women’s coach.

BLUFFTON, SC-While the 2009-10 school year brought many successes for USCB athletics on the baseball diamond, golf courses and running venues, Sand Shark athletes also had tremendous success in the classroom as evidenced by a number of awards recently presented to USCB student athletes for academic achievement.

Rapid City, SD- The University of South Carolina Beaufort Lady Sand Sharks moved up one spot to finish 7th at the 2010 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship. The Sand Sharks missed last year’s cut for Nationals but one spot, but this year they came out swinging to earn an at-large bid and finish their second season in history in the top ten in the NAIA.

RAPID CITY, SD- The University of South Carolina Beaufort Lady Sand Sharks loses ground Thursday and fall to 8th. The field of 25 teams faced strong winds to make play very difficult. Brittany Cheek shot the lowest round for the Sand Sharks for the second day in a row, joining Sophie Henke in the top 25.

Rapid City, SD- USCB Lady Sand Sharks remain in 6th after day two of the 2010 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships. Led by sophomore, Sophie Henke who carded a 4-over par 76, and is tied for 5th over all. The Sand Sharks improved their score by one stroke in Wednesdays second round with a 317, 25 strokes behind leader Oklahoma City.

Rapid City, S.D.- The University of South Carolina Beaufort Lady Sand Shark golfers sit in 6th place with a score of 318 as they head into day two at Nationals. British Columbia leads the field of 25 schools at 301. Oklahoma City has won the tournament five years in a row and is in second place at 308. Embry-Riddle, the top-ranked NAIA team in the country and a member with USCB in the Sun Conference, is third at 310 at the Meadowbrook Golf Course.

RAPID CITY, SD-The USCB women’s golf team will get their first taste of competition at an NAIA National Championship as they will compete beginning Tuesday at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, SD. The Sand Sharks will be paired with Victoria, BC and St. Ambrose, Iowa in the first two rounds of the 72 hole tournament which will conclude on Friday. USCB was ranked sixth nationally in the final NAIA poll. The number one ranked team, Embry Riddle, is one of four Sun Conference teams who will participate in the championships along with USCB, SCAD and Northwood.

Port Saint Lucie, FL ---No. 15 University of South Carolina Beaufort Lady Sand Sharks finish second (314-296 610) at Sun Conference Women’s Golf Championships, and hope to make NAIA National tournament. No. 2 ERAU finished ahead of the Sand Sharks by 14 stokes (297- 299 596) to solidify their bid to Nationals. Adrianna Saavedra led the Sand Sharks finishing six over par for the two day tournament (73- 76 149).
