BASEBALL HARD AT WORK

Brett Wheeler In The New Weight Room
The “Boys of Summer” are back in full swing with off season conditioning. Since the completion of Fall Ball practice at the end of September, the Sand Shark Baseball Team has continued to prepare for the upcoming season by engaging in agility drills, plyometrics, and strength and conditioning work-outs on a daily basis.

The Sand Sharks are fortunate enough this year to have a brand new workout facility on campus which includes: eighteen cardio machines, five workout benches, a strength tower, five leg machines, five upper body machines and a variety of free weights.

Senior RHP Ryan Kroko thinks that “Having a weight room on campus has allowed us to be more productive and allowed the team to be better prepared for the upcoming season.”

Much of the conditioning this off season has been conducted by Assistant Coach Michael Wallace, along with fellow assistant coaches Brock Wooten and Matt Clemmons. Wallace had this to say on how he thinks everything is going, “Everyone is working extremely hard, I am very pleased with our mental focus and intensity. We are definitely more mature, mentally this year in our day to day work of our strength and conditioning program. We realize the magnitude of this phase in our program that will help prepare us to compete at the level we expect to in the Sun Conference.”

The Sand Sharks are working as hard as they possibly can to compete in their upcoming baseball season which begins February 6th as they compete against Benedict College at 12pm at their home complex in Hardeeville, SC.
