SILVIS, ILL—The University of South Carolina Beaufort men’s golf team finished seventh at the NAIA National Championships. The team carded a four round total of 1212, +76 over the par (297, 312, 300, 303). The champions, Oklahoma Christian finished with an 1181, +45 for the four day tournament. The Sand Sharks finished seven places ahead of Savannah College of Art and Design, the only other Sun Conference team in the final round.
Chris Lane and George Thacker were the top Sand Sharks carding a four day total of 301 each. Lane shot a 74, just three over par in the final round (74, 79, 74, 74). Thacker carded a 71, 77, 76, 74, 76, finishing +17 for the tournament. Jon Pannone finished 44th overall with a 307, carding a 75, 77, 80, 75. Reed Howard was the next Sand Shark to finish carding a 308, +24 for the tournament (77, 79, 75, 77). Jack Bingham was the final Sand Shark to finish with a 320 for the tournament 84, 81, 75, 80.
