SAVANNAH, GA-The USCB men's and women's track team opened the 2010 season at the Eye Opener Invitational on Saturday at Savannah State. Held on a cold and blustery afternoon at Ted Wright Stadium, the Sand Sharks had several quality performances.
The sole victory of the day was by sophomore
Nic Tones who dominated the 1500 meter event winning going away in a time of 4:13.65.
Frank Tinsley place third in the 800 meter race running 2:01.07 while transfer
Shannon Anderson placed fourth in the 400 meter event clocking 51.58. Anderson also placed third in the triple jump.
Marshall Meyer was a third place finisher in the 5000 meter race running a time of 16:33.
Junior
Katie Mock had a third place in the women's 1500 meters and newcomer
Adrian Gibbs was third in the javelin. Freshman
Jessica Brown also placed with a fifth place for 800 meters.
“The weather slowed some of times, but we are ahead of where we were last year at this time,” said coach
Larry Kimball.
The Sand Sharks will head south on Friday to take part in the University of North Florida Spring Break Open in Jacksonville, FL.
