MIAMI, FL-USCB rebounded from Friday's disappointing loss winning a doubleheader against Sun Conference foe Florida Memorial on Saturday by scores of 7-3 and 8-4. The Sand Sharks were able to jump out to early leads in both contests to win their 25th and 26th games of the season. The wins give USCB a 26-10 record over-all and they stand at 11-6 in conference play.
Gabe Torres had thre hits in the first game for the Sand Sharks while DeShontay Berry added a pair of hits.
Spencer Cromer went the first six innings for USCB in game one to pick up his fourth win of the season against two losses.
Colton Rudd came on to pitch the seventh frame for USCB.
The Sand Sharks jumped out to a 8-0 lead by the sixth frame in game two as USCB starter
Ryan Philpott carried a no hitter through the first five innings. Philpott picked up his fourth victory on the season as he and reliever
Ryan Kroko combined for a seven hitter.
The hitting star for USCB in the nightcap was
Spencer Jackson. Jackson was inserted into the lead-off role by Head Coach Rick Sofield and responded with three hits including three doubles and two runs batted in. Brandon Collins chipped in with two hits and an rbi.
The Sand Sharks will travel to Central, SC on Tuesday to take on Southern Wesleyan in a 6:00 game. The team teams split a two game series earlier in the season. USCB will be at home next week-end in a Sun Conference three game series against Edward Waters. Game one will start at 4:00 on Friday and the two teams will play a double header on Saturday at 1:00 with all games at the Richard Gray Baseball Complex in Hardeeville.
