SAND SHARK BASEBALL TEAM TO OPEN REGIONAL PLAY IN TENNESSEE

BLUFFTON, SC-The USCB baseball team will make their first ever appearance in NAIA Regional play when they play Tuesday at 3:30 against Taylor University from Upland, IN. The Sand Sharks are one of five teams to play in Cleveland, TN in the regional hosted by Lee University in a double elimination tournament. There are nine regional tournaments throughout the United States with the winner of each one to join host Lewis & Clark State in the NAIA National World Series in Lewiston, ID from May 28 to June 4.
The Sand Sharks, in only their second season, advanced to regional play after compiling a 38-13 regular season record receiving an at large bid as did their first round opponent. Taylor, a member of the Mid Central Conference, who compiled a 38-15 record for the season. This will be Taylor’s third NAIA appearance.
The host team, Lee University is the number one seed in the region with a 46-11 record. They received a first round bye and will play the winner of the matchup of the other two teams in the region William Jewell, MO (38-13) and Mount Vernon Nazarene, OH (32-21). Should USCB win their first game, they will face the winner of the Lee vs William Jewell or Mount Vernon Nazarene winner match-up. A first round loss would put the Sand Sharks against the William Jewell/Mount Vernon Nazarene loser. Either way USCB will play their second game on Wednesday.
