BLUFFTON, SC-Members of the USCB golf team have been traveling throughout the United States this summer playing well in some of the top and more prestigious amateur tournaments. After concluding the 2010 spring season with a fourth place finish at the NAIA National Championship Tournament, Coach Shane LeBaron 's team has continued their fine play.
Tyler Jacobs qualified for the Maryland Amateur Championship at the famed Congressional Country Club shooting an even par 72 to qualify for the match play. After winning his first match on the 21st hole, Jacobs was defeated by a former open and amateur champion 3&2. Tyler will next play at the Maryland Open Championship beginning on July 12.
Chris Lane finished in a tie for 26th position at the Rice Planters Amateur Tournament last week at the Snee Farm Country Club in Mt. Pleasant (SC). Lane opened with a four under par 68 and finished the event with rounds of 73, 75, and 72 for an even par 288 for the 72 hole tournament.
Jon Pannone tied for 64th at the Northeast Amateur two weeks ago with a 292 total after firing rounds of 72, 74, 71 and 75. A week later, Pannone qualified for the North-South Amateur at the famed Pinehurst (NC) Golf Course with a one over par round of 72. He then went on to win his first three match play matches advancing to the final round of sixteen.
